It has been a tough time for all the Irrfan Khan fans since March 2018, when the actor announced that he was suffering from neuroendocrine tumor. Later after the news, Irrfan started with his treatment in United Kingdom, and since then the updates on his health were no where coming out in the media.
However, his fans can now breathe a sigh of relief, as Irrfan’s close friend and director Shoojit Sircar gave in a positive statement to Indian Express today saying, “Irrfan is doing fine. I’ve been speaking to both Irrfan and his wife (Sutapa Sikdar), he’s responding well to the treatment and trying to cope with the knowledge that he’s battling NeuroEndocrine tumour by treating the recuperation in Europe like a short and unexpected holiday.”
Shoojit also added saying that he may visit Irrfan next month, and that Irrfan will now star in the Udham Singh biopic. The actor will play the role of Singh, who had assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India in 1940, to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Earlier, there were reports of Ranbir Kapoor being finalized for the Udham Singh Biopic. However, during the promotions of Shoojit’s October, the director put an end to all the rumors.
Irrfan was last seen on the big screen in Blackmail, which released while he was abroad for the treatment. Irrfan Khan had also signed Vishal Bhardwaj’s yet-untitled film, co-starring Deepika Padukone, before his diagnosis.
Now that Irrfan is recovering, we can’t wait for him to be all healthy again and ready to charm us with his acting on the big screen. 🙂
