Pooja Hegde Opens Up About Having No Inhibitions On Auditioning, Urges Actors to Audition in the Home Country Rather Than the West

Pooja Hegde, one of the most celebrated actresses of Indian cinema, recently shared her take on auditions and revealed the reason behind giving auditions. She threw light on how filmmakers carry a certain perception about actors, and how female actors tend to get typecast easily.

“Filmmakers have a certain perception about actors, especially female actors as we tend to get typecast easily. That’s why I feel it’s important to audition and showcase your traits that haven’t been explored yet. It’s better to be in the running for a role than to be overlooked. Some of the biggest stars audition in the West, why not here?” shared Pooja Hegde.

A look at Pooja Hegde’s filmography and you’d see how she has evolved as an actress. She’s made a mark across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films, and has constantly justified ‘pan-India’ with her body of work. Currently, she is gearing up for her Tamil film ‘Retro’, wherein she will be seen sharing the screen space with Suriya. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, ‘Retro’ is scheduled to hit the screens on May 1. Apart from this, Pooja Hegde is also gearing up for her Bollywood film ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’, wherein she is starring alongside Varun Dhawan. Directed by David Dhawan, the film is poised to blend lighthearted narrative with romantic elements, and is slated to release soon.
