Dukaan Movie Review: Unveils a Repackaged Narrative with Familiar Tropes

Movie Rating: 2.5/5 Stars

Movie Review By Ratan Srivastava:

It appears that Siddharth-Garima have ambitiously embarked on a multifaceted narrative journey in Dukaan. While the film undeniably carries a profound social commentary, it struggles to achieve the desired levels of sophistication, resonance, and complexity.

Today, on April 5th, 2024, Dukaan graces cinema screens. Remarkably, the film excels in its cinematography and musical accompaniment, elevating the visual and auditory experience.

For those intrigued by the vibrant tapestry of Gujarati culture, enamored with the allure of Garba dance, or eager to witness the emergence of a promising new talent in Monika Panwar, Dukaan beckons as a compelling prospect. However, for discerning audiences seeking a more polished cinematic endeavor, Mimi and Chori Chori Chupke Chupke may prove more satisfying alternatives. Also while watching Dukaan you may find that it’s a mix of 10th draft of epic movies like Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Gangubai Kathiawadi and resonance with Mimi film starring Kriti Sanon in lead.
