Ashita Dhawan, who has been a part of shows like Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Imlie, Krishna Mohini, and Mera Balam Thanedaar and is currently seen in Prem Leela on Dangal, believes that people all around the world dress as per their mood. While Mumbai is hyped for casual dressing, she feels it’s not just limited to the city.
She said, “People dress according to their state of mind at that moment. If you’re in a casual mindset, you can step out on the streets or even visit malls wearing something very casual without overthinking it. Your clothes reflect a part of your personality.”
Personally, Ashita loves dressing up; however, she added, “While I’m not too focused on wearing big brands or expensive clothes—that’s a luxury I hope to enjoy someday—I still make an effort to style myself with whatever I have. Whether it’s with accessories, bands, or other things, I enjoy putting together a look that feels unique to me.”
She further stressed that she never forgets to wear her confidence, be it with any outfit. She said, “I confidently wear whatever I choose, without worrying about whether it’s a branded item or not. And despite that, people often compliment me, saying, ‘I love this!’ or ‘I like that!’ That appreciation makes me feel good.”
But she believes in finding a balance. “While it’s fine to dress casually, one should also make a little effort to look presentable. I know it sounds like a contradictory thought, but it really depends on the situation and where you’re going. You should dress in a way that suits the moment but still reflects your confidence,” she said.
The debate around good looks meaning half the battle won continued, and Ashita stressed that looks can be deceptive. She said, “Yes, having good looks might feel like half the battle is won, but what’s the point of winning half the battle if you can’t do anything with it? For the other half, talent, an X-factor, and a zest for life are absolutely important.”
“Good looks alone won’t take you far. People expect more, and they want to see more. So, if you’re blessed with good looks, that’s great—it’s your luck. But you must focus on enhancing your other qualities. Build your talents, learn new things, and constantly groom yourself. Life is all about learning, and we should strive to grow and improve every single day. That’s the true essence of living,” she ended.
