In Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut, “Madgaon Express,” trouble brews in threes, as friends embark on a well-trodden path to Goa for a holiday. Dodo (Divyenndu) leads the charge, seeking the quintessential Goa experience of beaches, bikinis, and adventure, alongside childhood buddies Ayush (Avinash Tiwary) and Pratik (Pratik Gandhi).
As expected in Goa, the trio’s escapades take a wild turn when they encounter small-time dealer Tasha (Nora Fatehi) and rival smugglers Mendoca (Upendra Limaye) and Kanchan Kombdi (Chhaya Kadam). Amidst Dodo’s preposterous plans, the screenplay unfolds with characters straight out of a crime caper, delivering charged performances and unexpected humor.
While some moments hit the mark with madcap comedy, others feel forced in this 144-minute rollercoaster ride. Despite its zaniness, “Madgaon Express” occasionally struggles with unnecessary songs and underutilized characters like Nora Fatehi, leaving room for improvement amidst the laughter.
